hello all! I am starting the mcdaniel pre med this fall, and because this is premed I assume I can change my mind before enrolling into quite a tolling course such as medicine...
to be frank i have heard a lot of horror stories about hungary, i know it is a well recognized degree, and i come from israel (but i am bulgarian by nationality so i am an EU national if that helps in any way) so alot of israeli's in hungary and its quite a popular option here.
so here come the horror stories, i did my research on this site and on a few other sites online (both isrealis and english ones) and saw a few comments like
"people pay their way to the degree"(meaning in a corrupt way)
"oral exams are too difficult" my question is , i dont mind a difficult few years but i am not capable of studying 24 hours a day so would that mean i could never pass these exams?
but i know its the internet and i shouldnt believe everything i read
but then what really bugged me is I ran into a few kids randomly on the street that study in hungary, and one of them teary eyed said "dont do this to yourself, just run away and never look back"
and i was shocked and he continued in saying "i know of guys that sleep with assistant professors to get the exam question"
well what i know about this kid is that apparently he cant afford another year in hungary so hes moving somewhere else, hes not sure yet.
but really if i only heard a few commets like these i wouldnt mind, but this is something im hearing almost from everybody who knows im going to hungary.
and besides is it really true that if you fail one exam they wont let you continue to the next semester? and lets say i failed one exam do i have a chance of re-sitting the exam again before having to repeat the semester (year?) and also are there A LOT of repeaters?
and really i am sorry if i am making some people angry but really i have to think these stuff through before making my father break his back paying 17,000 dollars a year (that is if they dont increase the tuition this year)
so please, be honest, i dont come from a rich family and im realy taking every risk here in studying in hungary so i would like someone to clear all this out for me!
