Exemption from first year

I just got admitted into Pecs, and I will be hearing from Semmelweis and Szeged soon.

Although I sent the required documents to exempt me from first year along with my application package, Pecs admitted me into FIRST year. After inquiring about it, they gave me a link to fill out some other forms and apply for credit transfer:



Students of other medical universities may request transfer to the General Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmaceutist majors of the University of Pécs Medical School on following conditions:
At the time of transfer

  • the student has a current student`s legal status in the same major;
  • has completed at least 2 semesters;
  • has completed an average of at least 15 credit points of obligatory and elective courses in each semester;
  • has not completed more than 50% of his/her study plan at his/her present major;
  • has submitted the following documents before the deadline:


1. Transfer Application Form, filled in and signed by the applicant
2. Student Status Certificate (original)
3. Transcript or copy of the gradebook (verified copy)
4. High School diploma (verified copy)
5. ID or passport (verified copy)
6. B2 level language examination (such as Cambridge FCE/CAE, TOEFL, IELTS), or if English is the applicant's mother tongue a copy of the passport for proof
7. Letter of Motivation
8. Curriculum Vitae

I hold a bachelor's degree in medical science and have taken most of the required courses that are in Pecs' curriculum; can someone please explain how would exemption from first year work in this case? I haven't taken embryology, Hungarian medical terminology I. What do I have to do to get exempted from first year entirely?

Inexpensive hospital base clinical rotation in Oklahoma, Florida, NY, Atlanta etc

Hello Everyone,
I came across this website www graduatemedicalserivce .com
They have inexpensive rotation in in Atlanta, Florida, Oklahoma, New York etc. I had a very good experience with them because they actually come to the phone and answer my questions. Right now, I am in Oklahoma doing clinical rotation. They found me accomodation in Oklahoma for $700 per month. Many of you guys have been emailing me for me information. I just wanted everyone to know that I am enjoying and learning from the hospital base rotation. Lastly, my OBGYN rotation in Georgia was great. I was on call 4 times a week and assisted with delivery. All the rotations are hospital base and I am just happy to chose Graduate Medical Service. You can call them at 786 369 5802. Good luck

Hello Forum,

I am a graduate of McMaster University living in Mississauga, Ontario. I have received an acceptance letter from Semmelweis' school of medicine, and am wondering if there is anyone like me on the forum. I have a read a great deal about Semmelweis on forums like these and it seems that most people have mixed feelings.

I was wondering if there were any Canadian students currently enrolled in the program on the forum and if we could all use this thread to chat about the program itself, impressions of the quality of education and opinions and views on the possibility of practicing in North America and elsewhere.

Also, I have yet to visit Budapest, and would appreciate any information regarding the experience as a whole.

Lastly, I think this would be a good opportunity for any Canadians on their way to studying medicine at Semmelweis to get to know one another and why Semmelweis is their choice.

Hello,

I was wondering if there has been any success with regards to transferring from Semmelweis to Szeged?
Unfortunately I must admit that chemistry has never been my forte.
I failed medical chemistry so I could not continue with biochemistry in second semester. I have been told other Hungarian universities (szeged & debrecen) have biochem in second year so if I transfer hopefully I won't be held back a year elsewhere.

Any advice would be appreciated! Koszi! :)

P.s. also any suggestions about other universities within the EU which may accept my credits would be welcome too!

Exemption from Entrance Exams

Hello,

I dropped out of a Jordanian medical school in 2007 with a 80% grade average after having completed one and a half years.
I wish to continue my medical education in Hungary.

Do you think Semmelweis, Debrecen, Szeged, Pecs or any other Hungarian medical school would admit me into their 6-year medical program without having to sit for any entrance exams or interviews ?

I would appreciate the help of anyone in a similar situation.

Hello everyone, I'm from Brazil...This is my last year in Brazil (here i'm studying to be a dentist - last year). Well, i'm thinking about studying in Budapest (medicine) precisely Semmelweis, Pécs well, anywhere...McDaniel College works to this? The exams for entrance also easy? How many questions correctly i need to be accepted? and about oral exams are easy too? studyhungary.hu have some question of biology, chemistry, particularly are easy...Sorry about my english (this year i'm going to London to learn english lool :D:D...

Canadian student going to either Pecs or Szeged

Hey guys,

I'm a Canadian I was accepted into Szeged and Pecs. My toughest decision was deciding which school to go to, although Szeged has a higher ranking I heard the first semester is harder because they jump into anatomy right away. On the other hand Pecs waits until the second semester before they throw you into that fire. I also know a few students at Pecs that could possibly help me out while at Szeged I won't know any 2nd year students or so forth? Which do you think would give me the best opportunity to become a doctor and then also return home to Canada or USA?

Another thing that's really pressing for me is whether I will be able to come back to North America fairly easily? I don't want to go through 6 years of hard work only to be cut short at the end and be stuck in Hungary... That would be a nightmare. Does anyone here know students that went to Hungary to study and came back to Canada to practice?

In the last two years you also go through rotations could someone please explain these to me? Do you have to do these in Hungary or can you opt to do them in America and will that let you get by the USMLE? Is there any older students from there? How was the clinicals for you? Was it really hard due to lack of Hungarian skills or was two years enough to learn the language? Could you possibly do the clinicals in another country? For example if I were to learn German during my own time, a language easier to learn than Hungarian, could I transfer to Germany (a country also in EU). Then I could my clinicals there? The drawback would be I would finish my degree in German. Or could you transfer to the UK since it's also in the EU?

I hope someone can answer these questions for me thanks!

Semmelweis post-acceptance; applies to any university

Hello!
I have been accepted to Semmelweis University for the medical 6-year program. Who else is joining me this year?
I wanted to know how you are all dealing with official documentations and procedures, as well as housing issues. There is no real dormitory, so we need to go and rent apartments, right? We also need to register ourselves and everything, right?
I need help, I am sure others need help. Let's discuss and fill each others gaps. I wrote what I kind of know so far.

Pecs medical school Hungary

Hello I'm doing my entrance exam soon for Pecs and I'm not sure what to study for the interview . Does anyone have any tips ? Has anyone here applied for the 2015 entry
Also what is the examination system like in pecs I know in debrecen the have self control tests and if you get over a certain average in your scts you can get exempted from end of semester exams , Does Pecs have a similar system and what is it like living and studying in PecS.
